the road from the gates of Mantua there is an old tower-house, little more than a ruin, that stands on a proud jut of hill. The soft skies of Northern Italy sheltered the crumbling mortar and loose stone from the sort of weather that might have hastened its demise; in these lands, it took a long time for anything to be forgotten.
The door swung on rusted hinges, and above the threshold was a crest; not the arms of a lord, nor even a knight, but the sort of self-adopted sigil of men raised up by war. It was the head of a boar, long-tusked and snarling in a battle rage, and the black paint had flaked away in the wind. The tower stood empty and its contents unguarded: sets of armor were stacked piecemeal, and diverse weapons, ranging from swords to crossbows, crowded every corner; there were saddles and chests of goods as well, and furniture that would look more at home in a lord's hall than in a ruin.
And yet nothing had been stolen or molested. All was untouched; there was even bread, uneaten and left to harden on the board. The only thing that stirred within those gaunt stones was the unhurried sigh of the wind.| Kopi (played by Kopi) | |

| Claims to be bastard-born herself, so I s'pose we got something in common. She's a woman, though, so she's a bastard from the wrong side o' the blanket. She may have the arse of Venus, but I know a gold-digger when I see one. | |
